Dubai's artificial islands sink into the sea and finance (Rafael Camargo Vidal)
Dubai is the paradise of the strangest and landscape architectural projects. One of the most amazing real estate projects of the globe, The World, the luxury residentialartificial islands off the coast of Dubai, sinks underwater. (Wed, 23 Nov 2011)
The Dutch Docklands Architecture Studio designed and developed a master plan of 89 floating islands, giving the existing investors of "The World" the opportunity topurchase a floating paradise. The solution would offer investors a choice that ismore feasible and profitable to build on existing land masses, while incorporatingseveral environmental benefits.
Recently, the artificial world map of Dubai is news for some pictures taken from space, particularly from the International Space Station (To give you an idea of the size of this monster machine).
These images show how the 'borders' of the artificial islands are fading and watereat more and more ground. That is, it seems that this artificial Earth is sinking on the water.
To create this artificial archipelago employed more than 300 million cubic meters ofsand and 47 million tons of rock, an investment that apparently, did not help much.
